The AYS Repertory Orchestra is an advanced, symphonic orchestra composed of members who demonstrate through audition that they have excellent technical and musical ability. The size of the AYS Repertory Orchestra may vary according to the number of musicians who audition. During the debut 2010-2011 season, it is anticipated that the AYS Repertory Orchestra may share members of the Anchorage Youth Symphony where the musical repertoire requires additional performers. Members of the AYS Repertory Orchestra will typically be students in grades 9 – 12, will rehearse weekly, and will receive both group and individual coaching throughout the season.

The purpose of the AYS Repertory Orchestra is to provide developing young musicians an opportunity to build solid, fundamental technical and musical skills through study and performance of classical music repertoire. The AYS Repertory Orchestra will perform at least three times during the year at the Alaska Center for Performing Arts with the Anchorage Youth Symphony.
